Since 1999, my computer and I have been inseparable. It’s no surprise that, after secondary school, I chose to study Media, Information and Communication. It was a broad degree programme in which I could combine my creativity with my pragmatic approach. During my studies, I explored every facet of the marketing field, eventually settling on my favourite combination of psychology, online marketing and design. I undertook an internship in the online marketing department of a large retail company, learnt how to design magazines at a publishing house and, alongside my studies, gained experience as a sales assistant.
After completing my studies, I started working in a marketing department, where I was mainly involved in offline marketing. I soon realised that this wasn’t really the right fit for me. That’s why, at the age of 28, I decided to set up my own business as a branding and web designer. Here, I learnt what it takes to make your business a (online) success. And then the urge for a new challenge started to tug at me again…
During my years as a web designer, the focus was on creating aesthetically pleasing websites that convert visitors and deliver the desired customers to business owners. Increasingly, clients asked how they could get more out of their website in terms of traffic, leads and turnover. This sparked my interest in the performance side of marketing.
When I saw a vacancy for an Online Marketing Project Manager at Traffic Today, I applied straight away. Thanks to my experience in client relations and design, I was hired and trained in-house to become an SEO Marketer. Although I’d once sworn never to work for an employer again, I haven’t regretted it for a moment. The atmosphere at Traffic Today is friendly, my colleagues are helpful and the pragmatic approach feels like coming home.
In my spare time, I go for walks around Deventer with my dachshund Guusje, spend far too much money on clothes, and enjoy dining out in town with a good glass of wine. I make up for all this with the occasional frantic attempt at exercise, which often doesn’t last long enough to yield any results.
If I were ChatGPT, I would conclude this text with a summary or a word of thanks.
