What is ChatGPT and how does it work?

ChatGPT is an AI tool from OpenAI that generates text based on your input. You ask a question or give a prompt, and the model responds as if you were talking to a smart, well-informed colleague. The big advantage? ChatGPT thinks along with you, writes quickly and learns from the way you use it.

The more context you provide to the tool, the better the output. We call this ‘prompting’. That is precisely where the strength of our approach lies. With the right prompts, you can extract surprisingly good, remarkable texts from ChatGPT.

Here’s how you can use ChatGPT in marketing projects

Text structures and outlines

We mainly use ChatGPT to generate quick and clever text structures. Think of outlines for blogs, landing pages or email campaigns. This allows us to have a framework that provides direction in just a few minutes. Combined with our own knowledge and experience, ChatGPT helps us arrive at a clear structure for every piece of text.

SEO titles and meta descriptions

For SEO, we use ChatGPT to generate various title and description variations tailored to search intent, click behaviour and length. This makes it easy to carry out A/B testing on a per-page basis and to provide immediate input that better aligns with potential customers’ search queries.

Structuring email exchanges into action points

Long email exchanges between clients and the team can become confusing. We use ChatGPT to summarise these conversations and to clearly list any outstanding questions or actions. This prevents important to-dos from getting lost at the bottom of an email thread.

Social refining media content

ChatGPT is a useful sparring partner when it comes to refining social posts. Whether it’s rewriting captions, adapting the tone of voice for each platform or adding creative angles and relevant hashtags, it quickly boosts the quality and effectiveness of your content.

Summaries of long texts

From white papers to extensive briefings and interviews, ChatGPT helps us quickly get to the heart of the matter. The generated summary is highly useful for internal reporting or as the basis for a visual or concise external article. It saves time without losing any important content.

Is ChatGPT reliable? (including for business use)

Although ChatGPT is clever, it remains an AI model. This means it provides lightning-fast answers, but offers no guarantee of factual accuracy or nuance. Certainly not without good input, and certainly not without verification.

That is why we always use ChatGPT as an assistant, never as a final editor. We do this to ensure reliability.

Human oversight is standard practice

Every piece of output from ChatGPT is checked, rewritten or supplemented by a marketing specialist. We do not allow AI to publish content independently.

We provide context in our prompts

The better the input, the better the output. We work with smart structures that ensure relevant, brand-focused content.

Facts are checked at source

ChatGPT can sound convincing, even when it is wrong. That is why we always verify data, sources and claims.

Transparency towards the client

We are always open about our use of AI. You can tell when something has been generated by ChatGPT and when it hasn’t.

We never share personal data with ChatGPT

Everything we publish is anonymous or derived from publicly available information. We obscure or render untraceable any information relating to individuals or companies to safeguard privacy and confidentiality.

How much does ChatGPT cost?

ChatGPT is partly free to use, but a paid subscription is required for the most powerful features. There are also business applications via API. Below, we briefly explain what options are available and what you can expect in terms of investment and possibilities.

How can you use ChatGPT effectively as a marketer?

ChatGPT is not a replacement for your marketing team, but a catalyst, and it can help you maintain high standards in your work. By using the tool strategically, you can work faster and smarter without compromising on quality. The key lies in effective prompts, clear context and critical final editing.

We use ChatGPT daily for inspiration, planning, variety and volume, but always under the supervision of a marketing specialist. This ensures you retain control over tone, content and brand identity.

1. Generating ideas and variations quickly

Whether you’re looking for blog titles, ‘ social ’ formats or ad variations: ChatGPT helps you move quickly from initial ideas to usable concepts. You can simply request multiple angles, different tones of voice or formats per channel. Ideal for brainstorming sessions and A/B testing.

2. Simplifying complex ideas

ChatGPT helps you convert complex or technical information into accessible marketing language. Think of rewriting a white paper into clear web copy or translating internal insights into customer-focused messages.

3. Supporting internal communication

Use ChatGPT to structure and rewrite memos, summaries of briefings or internal updates. You’ll save time and make internal communication more direct and clearer for everyone involved.

4. Structuring or comparing information

Let ChatGPT help you organise scattered information, such as market data, customer surveys or competitive insights. You can even have it create comparative tables or summarise key points from multiple sources.

5. Generating technical step-by-step plans

Whether it’s setting up tracking, configuring a workflow in a tool or understanding API documentation, ChatGPT makes technical steps easier to understand by converting them into clear instructions or checklists.

Advertising within ChatGPT

Since 2026, it has been possible to advertise within ChatGPT. ChatGPT Ads is OpenAI’s advertising platform. It does not use keywords, as Google Ads does, but rather the context of the conversation. Advertisements are linked to the topic of the conversation.

Advertisements are visually separate from the responses and do not influence ChatGPT’s replies. You bid on a CPM, CPC, per-click or per-thousand-impressions basis. This opens up a completely new advertising channel, with very little competition as yet. We’ll help you make the most of it.

A custom GPT in practice

We develop practical tools, models, workflows and other applications that we put to immediate use for our clients. Below are some examples:

1. Structure and consistency

From tone of voice to feedback and a cohesive process: thanks to a custom GPT, work is carried out more efficiently. Generative AI is translated into a practical and innovative way of working. This results in cohesive content that deserves a strategic place.

2. Working quickly within set guidelines

What is the strength of such a custom GPT? A combination of speed and fixed guidelines. Processes make the work faster and more effective for the user. Key steps are taken into account for every assignment.

After all, a product description requires a different approach to a blog, landing page or social media post. In addition, the correct company information, tone of voice and USPs are automatically applied.

3. Standardised processes for each content type

Fixed processes specifically tailored to a client’s content. A step-by-step plan is followed for each content type. Information gathered is checked at regular intervals and written up once previous steps have been completed.

Our processes go beyond mere copywriting. We analyse structures, search intent and the STDC model.

4. Experience as a foundation

Content should not only explain what a product is, but also actually help the reader to make a choice. Where possible, therefore, experience from production, customer service and delivery is incorporated. Content is tailored to the various markets, and for other languages, the texts are rewritten from scratch in the target language rather than having a Dutch text translated literally.

5. From search query to relevant content

A combination of structure and content: information is translated via query fan-out into specific topics and then into an outline. Only then is the text written. SEO is not just about a keyword, but also about answering what a website visitor actually wants to know.

Different types of content have specific requirements regarding, for example, structure, word count, USPs, CTAs, meta titles and meta descriptions.

Smart integrations and automations with ChatGPT

ChatGPT isn’t just accessible via a browser. Using tools such as Zapier, Make or directly via the OpenAI API, you can integrate the model with your marketing software. Think of automatically summarising new support tickets, generating initial draft texts based on completed briefings, or structuring customer insights in Notion or Google Sheets. This allows you to have AI running in the background as part of your workflow, without having to do anything manually all the time.

Our approach: not tool-driven, but results-oriented

We don’t opt for a single AI solution, but for the right mix. ChatGPT forms our foundation because it is powerful, flexible and creative. Furthermore, it can be deployed directly in many marketing processes. But if your brief calls for something different, we can switch to that just as easily.

In short: we make the technology work for your goals, not the other way round.

Smarter prompts, better output

Many people use ChatGPT as a sort of search engine. But anyone who really wants results invests time in a strong prompt structure. At Traffic Today , we also build our own custom GPTs. We train these entirely according to our own knowledge and needs, or, alternatively, to those of a client. This means we need to invest less time in crafting good prompts, without compromising on quality.

We use reusable templates for blogs, SEO, emails, social captions and even competitor analyses. This enables us to ensure both speed and quality, without having to start from scratch every time.

For clients, we define the tone of voice in the form of prompts. This ensures consistent output, even when several people are working with AI.

We create prompts with fill-in fields (“[target audience]”, “[topic]”, “[purpose of the text]”), so that teams can adapt quickly without resorting to error-prone improvisation.

Frequently asked questions about ChatGPT

1. Can ChatGPT cause plagiarism?

ChatGPT generates new text based on patterns in the data on which the model has been trained. It does not copy existing text, but may unintentionally bear a strong resemblance to existing content.

2. Can Google tell if a text has been written by AI?

Google does not look at who wrote the text, but at quality, relevance and user value. AI-generated texts are therefore perfectly fine, as long as they are valuable to the user. We ensure that AI content is always checked, rewritten and optimised for readability, SEO and brand identity. This prevents your content from coming across as generic or unnatural.

3. Is ChatGPT safe to use for my business?

Yes, provided you handle it properly. For example, we never share personal data or sensitive client information with ChatGPT. We only use information that is already publicly available, or which we phrase in such a way that it cannot be traced back to specific companies or individuals. This ensures your input remains secure and your output remains usable without the risk of data breaches.

4. Can ChatGPT also generate images?

Yes, if you use GPT-4o (via a paid account), you can also have ChatGPT generate images via DALL·E. You enter a description and ChatGPT creates an image based on it. In practice, we mainly use this feature for quick concept sketches or to explore visual ideas, rather than as a final product.

5. How do I know if a text generated by ChatGPT is correct?

That’s a good question, because ChatGPT can sound convincing, even when it’s wrong. And if you ask it whether it’s certain or can provide evidence, you don’t always get the truth in return. That’s why we manually verify all factual claims.

In addition, we often include instructions in the prompt such as: “only state facts with source references” or “do not include fabricated statistics”. AI is a tool, not a source.
