High-quality fencing & barriers

It has been over a year since our collaboration with the online shop Hekwerkonline began. Hekwerkonline is the place to go for garden fencing or complete fencing systems, amongst other things. To help them achieve their 2019 targets, we handle their online marketing. As the online shop is growing so rapidly, we even expanded into Germany and England last year.

Growth

To achieve that 300 per cent organic growth, amongst other things, we undertook a wide range of activities. What did we do? Among other things, we set about restructuring the internal link structure, improved link juice, updated the technical SEO (and continue to do so), wrote numerous new landing pages, and set up and optimised various marketplaces.

To support all of this, our colleague Pascal was seconded on a weekly basis. The advantage of this is that decisions can be made quickly and communication lines are short. This allows for a great deal of knowledge to be shared, enabling Hekwerkonline’s staff to get to grips with online marketing themselves. In addition, there is a monthly strategic meeting with the management of Hekwerkonline, the web developer and Traffic Today, so that all parties are always kept up to date with the results and developments of the campaign.

Knowledge is shared

“We’re a small team,” says Andriessen, “We have half an FTE dedicated to SEO, which is far fewer staff than our competitors. Nevertheless, we prefer to do as much as possible ourselves, as this allows us to build up in-house expertise. Fortunately, Traffic Today is very transparent in this regard: they’re happy to share their knowledge and expertise with us. This helps us work more and more in sync and keeps us on our toes. It’s not a one-way street; we often come up with ideas ourselves, which we then put forward to Traffic Today . That way, we achieve more together and the quality improves too. And that’s great, because we’ve still got plenty to do: we need to maintain a healthy balance between paid and organic visitors. Technical SEO can always be improved. Google is constantly rolling out updates, and our competitors aren’t sitting still either. In short: thankfully, it never gets boring.”

Zaunonline

Zaunonline is the German branch of the Hekwerkonline webshop. Just as on the Dutch webshop, private customers can visit this site for fencing, gates and associated fixing materials and accessories. To enter the German market, we first focused on the German market. It turns out that German consumers differ from their Dutch counterparts. For instance, quality and reliability are very high on the list of priorities for German website visitors. With this in mind, we carried out an analysis for Zaunonline.de and shared our advice on, amongst other things, the website’s content. In addition, we established the website’s structure and implemented technical optimisation. We tested the user experience through usability testing, utilised marketplaces and optimised the feed for various marketplaces, such as eBay and Amazon.

Fenceonline.co.uk

In addition, we have been working on the English-language branch of the webshop: Fenceonline. Here too, we first delved into the theory to investigate how English website visitors navigate the site. A characteristic of English consumers is that they first view a product in-store before comparing prices online. Based on this knowledge, we drew up a set of recommendations for the website: from language use to design. For Fenceonline, we carried out search engine optimisation and search engine advertising, giving us a solid foundation on which to further expand our online marketing efforts.
