Dutch brands shop
The collaboration between Dutch Expat Shop and Traffic Today began around three years ago. At that time, project manager Sander Hoetink was still working at the parent company, Best4u Internet Marketing. The brief was to drive growth and improve the website’s search visibility. To set up an effective campaign, existing data was analysed in advance and extensive consultations took place to properly identify the client’s requirements.
Growing from a simple online shop with 2,000 products to one with over 25,000 typically Dutch and Belgian products: Dutch Expat Shop is growing rapidly. Orders are pouring in from all over the world, helping people to recapture that genuine feeling of home. It makes sense, because as the clock ticks at home… According to founder Mark Nooijen, Traffic Today has made a major contribution to the growth and online visibility of Dutch Expat Shop.
“My expectations were quite low at first, because we’d worked with four other agencies for Traffic Today and that hadn’t yielded anything at all, apart from a lot of costs.” Fortunately, Mark saw some positive developments. After a year, turnover had even doubled, something he’s very pleased about.
“Personally, I focus on social media, newsletters and website content. From an online marketing agency, I expect to see growth in visitor numbers and orders.” Are your expectations being met? “So far, our website has shown strong growth, right from the start of our collaboration with Traffic Today. Let’s make sure we keep this up.”
As owner Mark Nooijen often spent time abroad himself, he soon realised he missed typical Dutch products, such as cheese and hagelslag. The idea arose to set up Dutch Expat Shop for all Dutch people who had to look elsewhere for their favourite products they missed. This large online supermarket now offers more than 25,000 Dutch and Belgian products. The range is curated with the utmost care and expanded every month.
Mark explains that Dutch Expat Shop started out in the living room, then expanded into the kitchen, and soon after that the garage. Even after building an extension, they outgrew the space in no time. After three years, they moved to a shop premises in the village. “We’re currently based in a large industrial unit with a 500 m² warehouse, much of which is automated, and it also includes an office.”
Since its foundation a few years ago, Dutch Expat Shop has experienced significant growth. Online marketing has played a key role in this. Link building and Ads are the main drivers of leads. “The campaign has actually been going well right from the start. Sander has ensured that we are much easier to find. He also advised us to make certain changes to the website to make it more user-friendly for customers. In addition, he provided lots of tips on what should and shouldn’t be included – both from a technical and a marketing perspective.”
Something Mark really appreciates is that he can say whatever he likes and is listened to carefully. “Things are handled calmly and, if any problems arise, they are resolved quickly. I also really appreciate how easy it is to get in touch with them. Sander regularly comes up with new ideas, and as I’m someone who likes to try new things, we complement each other well.”
Traffic Today , and Best4u are currently working on a new website. “It’s an exciting project, because it’s always a case of waiting to see how it turns out, but I have every confidence in it. Furthermore, in 2019 we’ll be focusing fully on the website’s content.”
