What if, as a ‘ Social ’ Marketer, you were at the heart of the latest developments every day, experimenting with innovations and brainstorming with other specialists about how the ‘ social ’ landscape is changing? We sit down for a chat with Anne, Head of Social and ‘ Social ’ Marketer at Team Rood in Enschede.
In this interview, Anne explains why she chose Traffic Today , how she sees her role and what working according to the cell philosophy means to her.
“Within my cell, my focus is primarily on the paid aspect of Social Media Marketing. Analysis plays a major role in this. I analyse performance by channel, such as Meta, Snapchat and TikTok, and use Google Analytics 4 to investigate the causes of any decline. Based on this, I make adjustments and optimise the campaigns.”
I have a lot of direct contact with clients, both via email and in meetings. I am also responsible for my clients’ social strategies and contribute ideas to new projects.
As Head of Social , this role also involves a strategic and coaching dimension. I mentor and support colleagues within my cell and share knowledge with other Heads. In this way, I combine the operational work of an Social Marketeer with the broader responsibilities of a Head of Social.”
“This is a project where we have plenty of time and budget. We work with a wide mix of channels for this client, which makes it particularly interesting to test what does or doesn’t work on each channel. The client is very open to innovations and new objectives on the platforms. This gives you a great deal of freedom to make strategic choices and try out new ideas.”
“In practice, this means that I work within a small, close-knit cell in Enschede, where collaboration is intensive and personal. We communicate quickly with one another and have a good understanding of what’s going on with our clients.”
A major advantage of the cell philosophy is that knowledge is not confined to a single team. What is lacking within my own cell is often available in another cell. This makes it easy for us to seek each other out and learn from one another.
I also regularly work at other locations, such as in Deventer and sometimes in Zwolle, to consult with other Heads of Department. This variety ensures that I gain new insights and can take away ideas that I can apply directly with clients.
We also organise monthly specialist mornings for ‘ Social ’ Marketeers. One month is dedicated to knowledge-sharing through a knowledge session, whilst the next month we work together on projects during a workshop. In this way, we continue to develop ourselves and each other.”

“At Traffic Today , there’s always scope for innovation and personal development. You’re given time to work on these and there’s scope to attend trade fairs or events so you can keep up to date with the latest developments.”
Traffic Today “We have a broad portfolio of clients. This means there’s always something new to test for a client. For example, if I read something interesting on LinkedIn or in our Slack channels, I can see if it can be applied for a client. I also make a point of setting aside time in my diary for personal development.”
“At Traffic Today , the work is both challenging and incredibly enjoyable. The culture is open and informal: you’re encouraged to put forward ideas, have your say and make a real impact. The cell philosophy offers plenty of scope to develop yourself and realise your ambitions. At the same time, there’s a great deal of flexibility; I can organise my own day and experiment with new ideas, which makes the work very dynamic.”
Personally, I focus mainly on the paid side of Social Advertising , but that doesn’t mean this is a must for other Social marketers. Do you enjoy creating visuals, social making videos or writing ad copy, for example? Then you’ll have plenty of scope here to develop your skills in those areas. You can also experiment with video formats or appear on camera yourself if that suits your interests.
In short: if you have a particular passion or interest within your work, you can develop it further, as long as it contributes to the client’s success. That’s what makes the work challenging, varied and incredibly enjoyable.”
