Artificial Intelligence: what is it and what can it do for you?

Summary

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is technology that recognises patterns, can learn independently and can perform tasks based on data. In marketing, AI is used for, amongst other things, chatbots, content generation and personalised email campaigns. However, AI must always be supervised by humans, and whilst it can simplify work processes, it cannot replace them entirely.

The online world is constantly changing, with new trends continually emerging. One such trend is ‘ Artificial Intelligence ’. This service, also known as AI or artificial intelligence, can recognise patterns and respond to them. ‘ Artificial Intelligence ’ is of great interest to many businesses, as it can easily be integrated into your automation processes. In this blog, we’ll tell you more about Artificial Intelligence and what it can do for you, so do read on!

How does ‘ Artificial Intelligence ’ work?

Artificial Intelligence Artificial Intelligence is based on patterns. It is self-learning, which means it adapts when it recognises a pattern. This can be utilised in many different ways. Many games use to provide a greater challenge: as soon as a pattern is recognised in your playing style, the AI adapts to break that pattern. However, this is not particularly interesting for marketers. What is interesting, however, are the following examples of artificial intelligence in a marketing context:

  • Chatbots: if you want to provide a better service to your website visitors, you can incorporate a chat feature. It takes quite a lot of time to actively monitor this, but not if you use Artificial Intelligence . This helps your website visitors by recognising standard questions and converting them into effective answers. Of course (especially in the early stages), the bot won’t always have the correct answer, so make sure you have staff on hand for when this happens.
  • AI content generator: do you want to fill your website with content, but don’t have the right in-house marketers to do so? These days, there are many AI content generators available online that can create this content for you. The AI content generator uses Artificial Intelligence to find content on similar topics. Once it has done this, it is able to create your content. Of course, you can then tailor this to your own requirements, so that the final result is fully usable.
  • Artificial Intelligence : can also be effectively used to identify patterns in your customers’ behaviour. Take repeat purchases, for example: when the AI realises that a particular customer regularly makes the same purchase in your online shop, you can contact them via email to remind them not to forget this purchase. Another approach is a so-called ‘abandoned basket’ campaign, in which you send customers an email reminding them that they haven’t yet completed their purchase.

Should we be afraid of artificial intelligence?

When people are asked about artificial intelligence, they are often afraid of the idea that robots might become smarter than humans. It’s a brilliant plot for a good science fiction story, but fortunately that’s as far as it goes. After all, ‘ Artificial Intelligence ’ is controlled by humans at all times. We decide whether it becomes part of a website and to what extent it can develop. If the AI doesn’t function exactly as you’d expect, there’s always the option to switch it off and take over the work yourself. Generally speaking, Artificial Intelligence simply takes some of the work off our hands, so it’s certainly not something to be afraid of, but rather something to celebrate.
